Excellent lodge, an old house from 1920 approx. Its own owner tells us the story of his family, German immigrants. House restored with dedication and maintaining almost all the period furniture. Comfortable rooms, new bathroom, great water pressure. The breakfast is very good, very complete, every day they serve a different German dessert. Children's games, abundance of vegetation and beautiful gardens. It also has trails to reach the reserve that the lodge has, 40 hectares full of native trees. Marvelous. It also has rooms apart from the house, installed in, for example, the dairy. Well secluded and private. I loved. Going out for lunch in Frutillar is a bit far but it serves to distract yourself if you want.

This place oozes charm. It is one of the last remaining buildings from the original German colony in the south of Chile and for it’s owner it’s restoration and maintenance is a labour of love. Sadly this German civilisation has been decaying gradually and it is vitally important that places like this remain. The German influence in South America is of global importance and much more should be done too or preserve it. This is not the egregious imperialism of Britain, France or Belgium but something much milder and more positive.

As much a museum as a B&B. Had a very enjoyable stay, as well as a nice swim in the lake.
